A New Visual Threat To Kids

The visual media plays a vital role in the upbringing of the kids of today’s generation.  A recent study stated that kids who are hooked on the TV for hours together and are exposed high sugar cereal ads in the  TV  are more likely to subsequently eat the brands of cereals they had seen advertised. Children’s exposure to TV ads about high-sugar cereals influences their food intake, which increases their health risks for obesity as well as cancers, warns research.

Eating habits among children develop from the preschool days and children who are overweight by the age of 5 continue into overweight into adolescence and adulthood. The adoption of poor eating habits to low-quality products, few fruits, and vegetables and the excessive intake of salt, sugar, and fat lead to obesity and later lead to cancer.

Efforts to promote and support quality diets at a young age are important to foster the lifestyle behaviors needed to maintain a healthy weight and reduce the risk of chronic disease including many cancers.
