Youngest ever woman MP from Odisha

An  Odisha tribal woman, Chandrani Murmu  is said to be the youngest ever MP in the lower house. She was unknown a few months ago and was hunting for a job but fate had different plans for her. She has now become an MP. She won the Keonjhar Lok Sabha seat reserved for the scheduled tribes by a margin of 66203 votes.Chandrani is 25 years old. Earlier the record for the youngest member of the lower house was held by Dushyant Chautala who was 26 and represented the Hissar seat in the 16th Lok Sabha.Chandrani’s  selection as the BJD candidate came as a surprise to many.

It is said that  tickets were given to women with professional qualification. Hence Chandrani who is an engineering graduate grabbed  the opportunity to contest the elections. She completed her BTech from the city based SOA University in 2017. Chandrani is confident and said that age will not determine her  role in Parliament and  that  she would justify her election.
