Year 2016 marks the Year Of Cricket Stars’ Biopics

Looks like 2016 is turning out to be a year of biopics of popular cricket stars, whose lives will be showcased on the Indian silver screen. Within a gap of a few months, films made on the lives of legendary cricketer and Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar, Team India’s captain MS Dhoni and tainted former captain and Hyderabadi batsman Mohammad Azharuddin will be released.

Sachin unveiled the first look poster of Sachin A Billion Dreams, a documentary film which traces the life and legends of Sachin’s glorious cricketing career. The documentary’s teaser will be released on April 14 and the film will release later this year.

Recently, the trailer of Azhar, a film based on the controversial life and career of former Indian cricket team captain from Hyderabad Mohammad Azharuddin, was released to a positive response.

The film has Emraan Hashmi playing Azhar’s role and it will prominently showcase Azhar’s broken marriage, love life and the infamous match fixing controversy. Azhar is slated to release on May 13.

Finally, yet another biopic titled MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, based on Team India’s current captain MS Dhoni’s early days of cricketing career, his job as a TTE at Kharagpur Railway Station and finally his successful journey in the Indian cricket team.

Sushanth Singh Rajput plays Dhoni’s role and the film will release on September 2. The film’s teaser was released during the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup to a thumping response.
