The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore held its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday. The ceremony marks the official commencement of the holiday season and arrived at the luxury hotel in all its splendour.

In a traditionally colorful evening of joy and excitement, the hotel marked the authenticity of Christmas with the Tree Lighting Ceremony on the evening of 23rd November 2016 with notable guests of the city partaking in the festivities. The lobby ringing with peals of delightful Christmas carols and a giant 3D Gingerbread House, marked a whole different dimension to the festivities.

In the true spirit of giving, which is really the cornerstone of Christmas celebrations, The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore has partnered with Dream a Dream, a Community Footprint partner NGO,  that is tirelessly working towards the betterment of children from vulnerable backgrounds. Guests, along with the ladies & gentlemen of the hotel donated generously against gingerbread bricks, which bore the names of donors and were placed on the house.

Gingerbread houses are customary to enliven the spirit of Christmas and bakes simply with flour that has been flavoured with cinnamon, butter and ginger, the coming together of which gives it a typical, uplifting aroma. One can decorate your house with small gumdrops candy canes, toffee bits, truffles and iced together with butter and cream icing.

GIFT HAMPERS

The hotel has some very attractive hampers, specially curated for gifting which guests can pick up from the retail outlet, Ganache.

The sale of Christmas goodies and festive celebrations starts shortly after the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Specially curated Christmas goodies will make for 3 different styles of Festive hampers.

The hampers have festive goodies like plum cakes with the choicest, spirit soaked dry fruits, Dundee cake with candied fruit and nuts, Christmas cookies, macaroons, Christmas trimmings and more.

The premium one has international wine, candles and other knick-knacks.

The stollen, usually known as the king of Christmas pastry, is a traditional cake like fruit bread made with yeast, water and flour is made from an age-old traditional recipe and in the most typical way with a core of marzipan inside. Our chefs have their own recipe for turning out the most delicious and traditional stollen, which they reveal is baked and dipped in clarified butter before being covered in iced sugar to keep it moist.  Legend has it that stollen is symbolic of the Holy Child wrapped into diapers, since the loaf looks like a baby swaddled in whites, with the marzipan in the middle symbolizing the infant Jesus.

The yule logs made of chocolate and the brandy drenched plum pudding adds to the Christmas offerings that one carries in their heart and more often than not, transports one straight to childhood days.

Cookies in the shape of bells and stars add that same familiar feel of the years gone by. Everything is enlivened with the heady aroma of alcohol and spice drenched dried fruits that somehow lend themselves to the upcoming spirit of Christmas.
