Women stuck in Fiji

Two women from Tamil Nadu who were lured and cheated by a gang that promised them lucrative jobs were stuck in Fiji without any money. They have sought help from the Centre to return home. The women were promised jobs in restaurants and were asked to pay RS 3 lakhs and RS 1 lakh in advance for the tickets and documentation.

They were promised a two year contract and a salary of RS 50,000/ per month besides perks. Many of them pledged their jewelry to arrange for the money.They were given tourist visa and were told that once they reach Fiji, they would get work permits. They were nabbed by the Fiji immigration officials when they found out that they had gone in search of jobs. Some of them managed to get back to India.However two girls are still stuck in Fiji and therefore have sought help from the Centre to return home.
