Women members of the Rajya Sabha want the Women’s Reservation Bill which proposes 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislatures to be passed. The Bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha way back in 2010 but was stuck in the Lok Sabha for the past nine years. For the Bill to be converted to a law, it needs to be passed by the Lok Sabha as well.

DMK MP Kanimozhi said that men are making all the decisions for women and it is totally unfair as the views of women are not heard. She requested the Government to take steps in this regard. She also referred to the happenings in Sabarimala and said that there is so much of discrimination against women in the country. Another member said that there cannot be women empowerment unless women are allowed to become decision makers.
