Four women from Tamilnadu were tricked into believing that they would be employed in an event management company in Dubai, were cheated and made to work as bar dancers. They were rescued by the Dubai Police after a tip- off from the Indian Consulate.

The women were locked in a room and had to work in a dance bar in order to solicit customers. One of the women managed to send an SOS to her family in Tamilnadu through WhatsApp. This was brought to the attention of the Minister of State for External Affairs who sprung into action and alerted the Consulate which in turn informed the Dubai Police. The women were rescued and sent home. The Consul  General said that he would inform the Tamilnadu Government to take strict action against the agents who sent the women to Dubai by giving them fake promises.
