Women demand legal abortion

Hundreds of women took to the streets to demand the legalisation of abortion in Brazil. Neighbour country Argentina approved a bill that legalised elective abortion in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The protesters carried banners that read “rich abort but the poor die” and chanted slogans while marching from the State Assembly to the city council. The lower house in Brazil will debate about abortion in a public audience in August and this should help the Supreme Court to decide on the case presented last year whether women had the right to abort.
