Woman in a man’s world

Kasthuri Naidoo the first South African cricket commentator is enjoying her role in the ongoing South Africa- India cricket series. She is fondly called Kass in cricketing circles and has her roots in India. Her mother’s father was born in a town called Anakapelli in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Her grandmother was also from Viahakapatnam.

Her mentor has been Robin Jackman. Her journey of commentating started when she was barely 14 and fell in love with the game of cricket. Apart from cricket she runs South Africa’s only dedicated online women’s resource called gsport4girls. The aim of the initiative is to raise the profile of women’s sport in the country and to encourage the corporate sector to back female athletes. Kasthuri’s dream is to commentate in India.
