The body of a woman who was murdered was found near the swimming pool on the Marina Beach.She is said to be a sex worker and was identified as Kalaichelvi. Three special teams have been formed to investigate into the matter.
The shopkeepers on the Marina service road complained that there was an increase in anti social activities and that rowdies and sex workers often visited the area causing inconvenience to the regular visitors. They also complained about the insufficient lighting in the area. They wanted the police to increase patrolling in the area and ensure that the beach is safe for all visitors.
