Will Smith on Tackling Concussion Role After Being a Football Dad: ‘It Was Something I Had to Do’

Will Smith admits he didn’t know much about the impact of head trauma in football before allowing elder son Trey to take the field, but once he learned the facts he was compelled to share them.
“I think that the big thing was that as a parent I wasn’t aware of the information,” he told Ryan Seacrest on the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday.
Smith, 47, is nominated for his portrayal of Dr. Bennet Omalu in Concussion, a forensic pathologist who fought back after the NFL attempted to suppress information related to his findings.
