Vastrabhushana – 2015: Weavers and Artisans to showcase their exquisite collection

Bangalore September 2015: Indian rural landscape is known for its Artisans and their native skills that produce exquisite products. Each region is famous for its own unique product and the urban folks often aspire to possess these products but find it extremely difficult to source them. It is time for urbanities to rejoice as many of these artistic creations will be available under one roof of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat on the Kumarakrupa Road September 2nd to 6th September 2015. This event is open for visitors between 10:00am to7:30pm.

The Event is followed with Grand Fashion Show, showcased by Rajesh Shetty, One of the Best Fashion Designer, choreographer who presented Indian culture and won award for “Third Best Jewel Designer” from Aastha, Bangalore.

The beautiful ramp walk & Grand Fashion Show was showcased by Kannada Cine Actors Manasa Joshi, Gayathri Gowda, Swetha Sanjeevalu, Navya Rao, Tammana Pasha, Tina Ponappa & Many more….

Making this happen in “Sampoorn” an organization striving to empower artisans. At Vastrabhushana – 2015 there will be 40 weavers from different regions of the country displaying their contemporary collection and complementing them will be jewelry artisan’s presenting their collection of stone, silver and other ornaments.

Products that will be displayed by weavers include Paithani, madhubhani, Patur, Zari linen, Batuvas, Dhaki, Kerala Kasuve Silk / cotton, bandhini and contemporary designer silk and cotton sarees. Also ethnic designer wears and designer kurtis will be on display. The artisans will display silver jewellery and filigiri and Ethnic ornaments among others.

According to Shalini Kailash ” Vastrabhushan is an attempt to provide artisans a platform to interact directly with the customers and showcase their artistic work. Also events of this nature help customers to appreciate the intricate skills and source exquisite items directly from artisans. Importantly these event helps artisan to read the mind of customers and respond to change times, she pointed out.

About Sampoorn

Sampoorn is a voluntary nonprofit NGO working in the crafts sector for the promotion and development of crafts and the welfare of craftspersons established in 2006. Sampoorn is involved in craft documentation, designand product development, marketing, training of craftspersons and upgradation of skills, tools and technology. They conduct various workshops and seminars and hold craft bazaars, fairs and melas to promote and showcase Indian heritage arts and crafts
