Every day, women love to pamper themselves with an aromatic body wash, a hygienic hand wash, a nourishing hair wash, and an effective face wash. But, it is a pity that most women forget about using an intimate wash for their personal parts. Most women just use any soap that they pick up from the supermarket, and some just use water. All our body parts have different pH values. While our scalp, face, hands/legs have a pH ranging from 5.2-5.8, our intimate parts have a lower pH ranging from 4.5-5.5. So, our intimate parts require a cleansing agent that is close to their own pH. Using any soap, which is picked up from the street shop will rip off the natural acidic protective layer of the skin, and cause the pH level of the sensitive organs to change, and this can lead to bacterial and viral infection. Our genitals require the most protection from microbial invasion than any other part of our body. The bacteria and fungi that already present in those places are beneficial to our body; it is only the pH change that induces their rapid multiplication, which becomes hazardous. This triggers itching, irritation, and bad odour, which commonly causes Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). V-Wash and Lactacyd are two such washes that are meant for female hygiene. They both contain lactic acid, which is milk acid produced by the beneficial bacteria lactobacilli, whose growth is in turn supported by lactic acid. They both have a pH of 5.2. Both these brands are available in India at a reasonable price. V-Wash is slightly cheaper than Lactacyd.
