Amethyst : presents an exhibition ‘Indian by Choice’, by Shalini James, an exotic potpourri of all things Indian, ethnic and contemporary and often an amalgamation of all silhouettes. A legacy of tradition, wealth of  weave, heritage of crafts, balancing statement cuts with understated styling,  a profusion of colour, on a palette replete with more than thirty, true Indian hues including rani, gulabi, gajari, kesari, jamun, neel, firozi, ambar, rama, bajra, badami, mehendi, haldi, kumkum, krishna and kohl. Amethyst : presents Anavila‘s Spring Summer 2016 collection entitled, “Balance“, showcasing comfortable, earthy hand woven textiles, inspired by nature. Rooted in Indian crafts, its expression is contemporary, spanning both everyday and special occasion wear for the Indian woman, with a minimalistic Zen look, using a monochromatic palette with hints of gold. February 25th to March 3rd, 2016 :

Amethyst : presents exhibition ‘Haath Heart’ featuring Sind by Ryoko Haraguchi and Sunita Shanker’s latest collection, “Water Colour Series” highlights the coming together of Japanese and Indian sensibilities in the world of textiles. The designers have been working together and have found a thread that connects their countries and their textiles. Japanese designer Ryoko Haraguchi‘s label “Sind”, showcasing  tunics, one piece dresses, jackets, coats, trousers, shawls and sarees. Japanese techniques, such as persimmon tannin over-dye are featured in Ryoko’s collection, using fine Indian silks and  Itajime dyeing processes. Sunita Shanker‘s SS16 compilation emphasises on garments to be worn over tunics, t-shirts or dresses, teamed with pin tuck trousers, and a bandhini scarf to complete the look, the colour palette is restricted to black, white and red with a few splashes of blue.  The exhibition explores the coming together of Japanese and Indian textile design sensibilities, experimenting with Japanese dyeing techniques on Indian textiles and fabrics, creating a sense of deep harmony and in that, finding a thread that connects their countries and textiles.‎ The shawls are priced at Rs.4,000/- onwards and garments at Rs.14,000/- onwards from 11.00am to 7.30pm daily at Amethyst, entrance next to Corporation Bank, Whites Road, Royapettah, Chennai 600 014. Ph: 04445991630/31/32.
