Meet five of Bengaluru’s top beauty bloggers who stand out from the pack for their edgy and informative content and photographs.

BLOG NAME AND YOUR FULL NAME?
Makeup by Chahat Paul. Chahat Paul.

DO YOU HAVE A DAY JOB? IF YES HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR JOB, BLOGGING AND LIFE IN GENERAL?
Fortunately I work and blog in the same space, which is beauty. Work allows me to do all of my blogging because it’s inter related. My mother Geetaa Paul and I own Sculpt, a beauty and slimming studio in Bengaluru.

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS IN THIS SPACE?
I’m a Professional MUA, Youtuber and Beauty Educator. So I like to share all of my knowledge with upcoming artistes, unlike the other artistes who do not. It allows me to practice more as well as certify my students.

WHAT ARE THE TOP 5 BEAUTY TRENDS CURRENTLY?
A. Everything Laser! From tattoo removal, Scar therapy, Laser Hair Removal & Skin Resurfacing! (Done at Sculpt by Geetaa Paul)
B. Lip fillers is my personal favourite, because lip fillers are to my generation what nose jobs were to the ’80s and what boob jobs were to the ’90s. Lips are what we now fetishise. Take a look at our idols – Kylie Jenner (who finally admitted to having fillers after months of media speculation), Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson. Each one of them have gone for big lips. Look at the number of new lip products: it grew by almost 11% last year. Tie in the fact that in the last two years Google has seen an 88% rise in the number of people searching for fillers, and it’s clear we’re a generation obsessed. We also do this treatment at Sculpt.

C. Straight & Sleek! Forget the bouncy blow-dry-pin-straight, high-shine hair is the new way to make an effort when it comes to your styling regime.
D. Chrome Eyeliner. There’s one trend that’s just getting started in 2017. Hint: It’s shiny, subversive, and being worn all over.
E. Bare & Well Groomed. From your brows to foundation to lips. Well defined and groomed but still bare, in my opinion was 2017’s biggest trend. You can even try Microblading your eyebrows to achieve this look. We also do this at Sculpt.

HOW IS THE BEAUTY BUSINESS GROWING IN INDIA?
Despite macro economic headwinds and demonetisation in 2016, the beauty and personal care products market in India grew 9.2 per cent. A segment that continues to be dominated by multinational companies, growth between 2011 and 2016 was aided by a near-doubling of annual per capita disposable income. More and more people want to educate themselves in terms of makeup, thus increasing the retail for cosmetic products.
