Falcons trounce Team India in 1st ever international American Football match

The experienced EAFL Falcons trounced young Team India 27-6 in an American Football international friendly game played at the Gachibowli Sports Complex on Saturday. This was the first ever international American Football match to be played in India. Falcons, who had players with NFL exposure in USA dominated the game right from the start. Though Team India players showed spurts of individual brilliance, Falcons prevailed over the hosts to win the game.

The EAFL Falcons showed Team India what they are up against in the first quarter of the match with two touchdowns in the first half taking their score to 13 to 0. India started the game but very soon Falcons intercepted the ball to score the first touchdown of the game taking their score to 6. Second touchdown came immediately after, putting Falcon in a very strong position up 12 points against India.

Indian players took some time to get to the speed of Falcons offence and in the second and third quarters Falcons was able to score only one touchdown. Indian team assembled from different parts of the country to play this game only 18 days ago and it showed. In the 4th quarter India was very competitive, intercepted the ball once, sacked the Falcons Quarterback twice and successfully scored a touchdown and putting 6 points on the board. Falcons’ players were surprised with the show Indian players put up for the hosts and also suggested to work on the running plays during the presentation ceremony.

Falcons scored their third and fourth touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters respectively taking the final score to 27 to India’s 6. All in all the Indian team looked promising and seemed to carry a lot of potential.
