Tamil Nadu assured of Cauvery water

Chief Justice of India Justice Dipak Misra gave an oral assurance to Tamil Nadu that it would get its due share of Cauvery water. On an urgent mention by Tamil Nadu,, a Bench led by the Chief Justice of India agreed to hear the plea of the State to initiate contempt proceedings against the Centre for wilful disobedience of its judgment to frame a scheme to allocate water to the four states viz Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Puducherry..

It was argued that the order should be complied with stringently. The case has been posted for further hearing on April 9th.Meanwhile the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Banwarilal Purohit left for New Delhi to meet Union Home Ministry officials regarding the Cauvery issue. A lot of protests are going on to protest against the denial
of justice to Tamil Nadu.
