The newly crowned Queen of Thailand  Suthida was reported to have been a flight attendant with Thai Airways before joining the King’s retinue. She was given the rank of ‘general’ in 2016 and was appointed as the deputy Commander of the King’s Royal Guard in June 2017. The palace recently announced that King Maha Vajiralongkorn had married Suthida and made her his queen.

The queen was seen kneeling alongside the King as they paid their respects to statues of previous Chakri dynasty monarchs in Bangkok’s historic quarter. Discussion about the monarchy inside Thailand is virtually impossible due to the strictly laws in force. The normally bubbly social media was subdued in reaction to the news of the nuptials.
