Sumangali scheme doesn’t exist

The State government held that the Sumangali scheme that existed in the textile industry does not exist any more. The DMK alleged that some textile industries were not paying women employees properly and that they were being exploited under the Sumangali scheme.Labour and Employment Minister Nilofer Kafeel and the Textile Minister said that the alleged scheme was not in existence.

Regarding the allegation raised by the DMK that there was a proposal to privatise the Salem Steel Plant, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said that they had convinced the Centre not to pursue privatisation of the plant.
