Power supply to the copper smelter factory was switched off following orders from the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board.Sterlite will be closed down for good as per the demands of the people. This signalled a victory for the protestors who fought for the last 100 days for the closure of the unit due to the pollution caused to the environment and groundwater.
The battle ravaged town is slowly limping back to normalcy. However the brutal murder of 13 people including 2 women will continue to haunt the government. A Commission has been formed to probe into the violence and the police firing.The million dollar question here is who ordered the police firing. We hope the Commission gives us an answer.
