When the mercury levels are rising, it’s time to play with some fun silhouettes and bright colours. Ace the summers with strappy, breezy, effortless cotton dresses and have your Marilyn Monroe moment. Revel in comfortable casual clothing while looking chic. RITZ Magazine speaks to fashion designers on what’s trending this summer and how you can make heads turn with psychedelic prints or solids on off-shouldered, zig-zag or slip dresses that make people go – “OMG, where’d you get that?” all the time. Here’s a lowdown on how can you look and feel perfect in the sun-basking days of summer ahead.

Days of summer should be bright and happy, just the way your clothes intend to make you feel. The Spring Summer collection by Ritu Kumar called ‘Musafir’, embodies the spirit of a traveller. Ritu Kumar says, “Very often, summer comes with its own kind of celebration, it is the time to rejoice and relax. To float in and out as easily as the evening breeze. It was then that we found ourselves turning to the palaces of sultans in Tangier, Morocco for artistic inspiration. With spring, we’ve reinterpreted our florals- both prints and embroideries inspired from the middle east. From the warmth of red, terracotta, rust to the balming effects of grey, mint, blush and ivory. Untamed, joyous and fluid, this collection embodies a spirit of living in the now. Days of summer should be bright and happy, just the way your clothes intend to make you feel.”

Turning to Label by Ritu Kumar, the designer talks about “Native Spirit”, their new collection which is a blend of the Native American subculture and the old –west, it revisits primitive arts with a touch of modern romance. Ritu Kumar says, “In our SS’19 collection, the bohemian trend gets a luxe makeover. Think 3D embroidery, scarf prints, washed denims with a touch of vintage cowboy glamour. This season, we’re reinterpreting the bohemian chic look. We found ourselves drawn to long flowy dresses, paisley motifs, geometrical prints- everything a Label girl needs to be unconventional this spring. Functional and fashionable, our new collection caters to the girl-on-the-go. Asymmetrical hemlines, floral prints and delicate lace detailing are key elements for this line.” Ritu Kumar store is on Lavelle Road, Indiranagar and Jayanagar in Bengaluru.
