Chennai received showers yesterday and it brought some respite from the heat wave that had engulfed the already patched city. More rains have been predicted by the Met office for the next two days as the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal is likely to develop and cause rainfall.

The temperature dipped as rain lashed the city for almost an hour. The showers came after the city experienced a dry spell for more than six months. Chennai had last received rain on December 5th 2018. Though the low pressure will not intensify into a cyclone, the South Westerly winds is likely to gather strength in the next few days and may bring rain to some parts of the city. Sea breeze is also likely to set in as early as 11.30 a m. and the temperature will be brought down by 2 to 3 degrees.
