A new video of him is going viral online and the reason has left the internet more in awe of the minister. Every time Tharoor tweets a word from the English language it creates quite an excitement on the Internet, but this time it was something quite extraordinary.

The video was shared by Tharoor on his Twitter account with the caption, “My reply to a student who asked me to give him a new word in view of my reputation as a fount of exotic vocabulary.” At an event, a 10th standard student asked the Congress leader to share a new word with him, given that his “reputation as a fount of exotic vocabulary”. He asked, “As you have been globally acknowledged as a man of vocabulary I would like you to give me and the crowd a new word for us to learn.”

After which, the minister replied to the student but the word he shared with the audience left everyone surprised and in wonder. The word was “read”. He said, “I will give you a very simple, very old word. Read. That’s the only way I acquired a vocabulary. People think I am some sort of nutcase who studies dictionaries all day long. I have barely opened a dictionary in my life. But I have read extensively. The reason I was like this because I lived in India without television, without a computer, without Nintendo, without Play Station, without mobile phones. All I had were books.”

Shashi’s advice to the student and the audience had everyone mesmerized, including netizens.
