A priest at a cathedral of Trinity Church, Wall Street, delivered a sermon at the empty cathedral. This same scene was repeated at other cathedrals as well. Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, the Cathedral of Saint John  also had livestream services. The Covid-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of religious services across New York.

As the Ministers preached, the congregation watched it at home livestream. The entire church was bereft of parishioners and the only people seated in the pews were the other parish priests who clapped for each other when the mass was over. A Jewish priest, Father James Martin urged the viewers not to panic, demonize or scapegoat Asian people for a pathogen first detected in Wuhan, China. According to him, the virus is not anyone’s fault.
