SAWMYA re-launched their store on the 12th December 2018 with ethnic brands like Kilol, Cottons, RUI and now launching NEH at 46, Sterling Road, Nungambakkam

The newly renovated store is on the ground floor of a bungalow and houses selected curated ethnic brands like KILOL, COTTONS, RUI and is now launching new label NEH from Delhi.

The traditional Indian art form of block printing, has been the forte of the KILOL line, with its attractive dyes, prints and weaves on natural fabrics such as cotton and silk. Hand block printing, which was a dying art in the 1970’s, has been patronised by Kilol at Jaipur. The Kilol brand is reputed for its quality, colour co-ordinated style and experimental designs and weaves. The amazing range of  salwar suits, fabrics, kurtis, dupattas and mix n match are on fabrics like tussers, maheshwaris, kotas, voiles, cotton-tussers etc. The Kurtas are enhanced by gorgeous shaded dupattas to complement each outfit. The sizes range from small to extra-large and for further flexibility, the unstitched fabrics can be tailored as per the customer’s requirements.

COTTONS is manufacturing its products in Rajasthan, a state known for its bright and cheerful colours.  Fabrics are dyed, printed, pin tucked, using blocks or screens. Most of the processing is done manually. Embellishment plays an important role be it sequins, beads, ghungroos, mirrors, embroidery or gudri. This work is primarily done by women from unprivileged backgrounds. There is a variety of traditional Indian clothing in the form of kurtas, kurtis, palazzos, Ghagras and yet alongside there are blouses, skirts, trousers, dresses. Stoles, dupattas and snoods are available in solid colours and prints. Customers are encouraged to mix and match the separates and create their own ensembles; you could pair a kurti with a crushed ankle length skirt or team a kurta with crop trousers and a scarf. The company is run on socially responsible guidelines.  Prices of their products start from Rs 690.

RUI, the thirty five year old Salwar Fusion House from Mumbai and Bangalore stocks its collection of Suits, Kurtas, Kurtis, Kaftans etc. Rui’s range extends from elegant work wear to semi formals and classic evening wear – all at extremely affordable prices. Rui’s line of clothing specialises in vibrant block prints with delicate hand and machine embroidery on terry voiles, spuns, crepes and georgettes. The sizes range from 34 – 46 while custom made orders are also taken.

NEH of Delhi is the new brand being launched at the store this season. It showcases a renge of pastel embellished kurtas with contrast dupattas teamed with printed palazzos. NEH designed by Nehal Swaroop is driven by the insatiable need to seamlessly bridge the gap between daily wear and festive clothing while finding a sweet spot in the middle of that vast spectrum. It is a label that appreciates and deeply understands the elegance that comes with being a woman. Fabrics like cotton, mulmul and chanderi lend themselves beautifully to make relaxed feminine fits. The opening collection includes some festive wear with gotapatti and khadi trims for the upcoming festive and Pongal season. Affordable quirky and aesthetic are three words which aptly define the collection.
