Saravana Bhavan owner surrenders in an ambulance in court

Hotel Saravana Bhavan owner ,P. Rajagopal surrendered in court yesterday. He was brought in an ambulance as he was not keeping well. In March this year, the Supreme Court confirmed the order of life imprisonment passed by the Madras High Court and gave the accused time till July 7th to surrender and serve their prison terms.

Rajagopal was carried in a stretcher to the court hall. The police was ordered to take the other accused into custody. However Rajagopal was admitted to the Intermediate Care Unit of Government Stanley Medical College Hospital and was examined by the doctors as he had complaints of cardiac ailments, hypertension and diabetes. Rajagopal had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to admit him to any Chennai hospital of his choice for treatment. His petition was dismissed and he was taken to the Stanley Government Hospital.
