The historic and religious site of Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh will soon become a World Heritage site. Not only Buddhism, but the place is also important for the followers of Jainism, as just a kilometer from here is the village of Singhpur, which is the birthplace of the Eleventh Tirthankara of Jainism, Shreyansanath.

The Archaeological Survey of India opines that for a long time Sarnath and its temples and ruins have been under the tentative list of UNESCO. A 600-page dossier is being prepared, which will have all the important information about the monuments in Sarnath. Also, around a 300 m buffer zone is being created around the monument, where no other things can be constructed. A number of people from across the globe visit Sarnath every day. It’s one of the most prominent and revered sites for the followers of Buddhism.

Thus, the state government would be working at making things perfect and more secure for the visitors. When it comes to the places to visit in Sarnath, there are some amazing options such as the Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa, Ashoka Pillar and Sarnath Archeological Museum. Besides, there are some beautiful monasteries and temples that are worth a visit..
