Karnataka’s largest bird sanctuary, Ranganathittu near Mysore is a haven for migratory birds and bird lovers. A bountiful nesting habitat for birds that migrate from places as far away as Russia, North America, Latin America and Siberia, the sanctuary sees over 150 different species nestling and laying eggs every year.

Painted stork, egret, kingfisher, spoonbill, white ibis, darter, open-billed stork, heron are the most common species seen at the sanctuary through which River Kaveri flows, adding to the charm of the place.
