Grand Master R.B. Ramesh who is the Chief Selector of the All India Chess Federation (AICF) resigned from his post alleging interference from warring officials of rival factions. However the AICF has not accepted his resignation. Ramesh who is a former Commonwealth Chess Champion said that he found it difficult to continue as the selection panel head due to the constant interference in the team selection and also due to the confusion created by the federation officials.
He further stated that he selected the team based on the norms laid down by the AICF and the other selectors too had agreed with the selection made. The other selectors include International Master Lanka Rao and Fide Master Ashwini Tiwari. The team was selected for the Online Olympiad slated to be held from July 22.
