Pune Fashion Week to transform the city – MAKING PUNE FASHIONABLE

Imagine a city that’s as fashionable as its fashion week, Where streets are ramps and prêt-à-porter a prevalent dress code. 

In an attempt to make history, a bigger, newer resolve of PFW was unveiled in a spectacular fashion at the Sunday Fashion Sundowner on December 20, 2015. In its 6th season, PFW 2016, which will be held on the 19-20-21 February, revealed plans to influence the city’s fashion quotient and motivate residents into making Pune fashionable.

It set the stage for Season 6 with a roadmap to make Pune fashionable with a transmedia campaign set to transform the city in the days to come. So far, fashionable people have been captured on the streets of Pune and have been featured online. A fashmobile will travel to various places providing instant makeovers on wheels. Makeshift ramps will be set up for Punekars to come out dressed in their best. Cafes and clubs will be converted into fashion zones and flashmobs of models will pop up at various locations across the city leading up to the Fashion Week.

“The idea is to reach out to photographers, designers, stylists and brands to come on board and enable this transformation and everyone who loves Pune is welcome to join the movement” said Sonal Karkera of Fanatics.

Speaking about the association, Mr. Bhavesh Somaya, Head of Luxury, United Spirits Limited – a Diageo Group Company, said, “We are proud to associate as the style and sophistication of Ciroc Cristaux perfectly complements the chic and glamorous Pune Fashion Week.”

Earlier in the evening, model turned fashion show producer –Achla Sachdev, Mrs. Asia International winner – Debasree Das, ingenious couturier – Nivedita Saboo and Blue Frog owner Govind Thakker judged the auditions for PFW Season 6 for which hundreds of aspiring models turned up.

The event also saw its first collaboration in the form of an exquisitely dressed hang drum artist Daniel Waples enthralling the audience with his music.

Badal Saboo, the Managing Director of PFW also has ambitious plans to expand the format across India in an attempt to make India fashionable. Making Pune Fashionable will be the first step to putting that plan in motion.

Nivedita and Badal Saboo passionately spoke about the need for the collective and conscious efforts of not just the fashionable set to usher in change and spoke at length to encourage participation from everyone.
