Bollywood artists along with actresses from the South have extended their support

Even as Mohanlal took charge as AMMA’s (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) president, his very first meeting in which the association decided to take back actor Dileep (who is allegedly involved in the actress attack case) led to a major controversy. Four actresses who belonged to the Women’s Collective in Cinema resigned and 15 more came out against the unfair treatment of women in the association. As the protests grew, Dileep informed the association that he did not want to be an active member until his innocence was proved.

Mohanlal issued a statement that the association was willing to address grievances of Women’s collective in Cinema and that if any corrections were to be made, it would be done. He said that AMMA has always stood by the actress who was attacked and that he was pained by the criticism leveled against the association. But more artists from across the country have extended support to the attack victim and have condemned AMMA leadership for their insensitive and misogynistic approach towards women actors.
