Head of the Department of Journalism and Science Communication S.Jenefa was stabbed outside her office yesterday in broad daylight. The  assailant is said to be a former part time lecturer who lost his job recently. Sources said that Jothi Murugan confronted Jenefa in her office, had a heated argument and then stabbed her. Jenefa sustained about 20 stab injuries but is said to be out of danger.


Jothi Murugan was removed from his post as students complained that he was not teaching property. As a result he was removed after a departmental meeting. He misconstrued that Jenefa was behind his removal and out of vengeance, he stabbed her.Students and faculty members visited Jenefa at the hospital and  offered moral support to her and her family  members.
