The Supreme Court has stayed the proceedings of the Justice A.Arumughasamy Commission of Inquiry which is probing into the circumstances leading to the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalitha at the Apollo hospital at Chennai. A three judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi stayed the proceedings after hearing the arguments put forth by the counsel for Apollo hospital in it’s Special Leave Petition.

The counsel for the hospital contended that the Commission was seeking all the records and materials which were not in any way related to the treatment of Jayalalitha and that the doctors who had treated her had already deposed before the Commission and furnished all the relevant documents. The Supreme Court has ordered notice to the Commission seeking it’s response on the Special Leave Petition.
