Britain’s Indian origin minister Priti Patel resigned from her cabinet post of International Development Minister amidst a political storm due to her unauthorized meetings with Israeli politicians while on a holiday in Israel.
The 45 year old Minister submitted her resignation after the Prime Minister Theresa May summoned her midway during a tour of Africa. In her resignation, she apologized and said that her actions fell below the standards of transparency. Her resignation marks the end of her meteoric rise of a Gujarati origin leader who was often touted as a future Prime ministerial candidate. Opposition parties had been gunning for her resignation as she did not follow the code of conduct and failed to follow established protocol.
