Chaos prevailed outside former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s house after priests who had come to perform rituals ahead of her first death anniversary on December 5th were turned away by the police. The Income Tax officials had sealed some rooms and hence they were not allowed inside.

Later on AIADMK cadres demanded that the priests be let in as they would not carry bombs or weapons but had only come to perform rituals. In spite of their demands, they were not let inside. The party blamed the government for this ruckus and said that first year rituals were very important. Later on they approached the City Police Commissioner seeking permission to conduct a peaceful procession on December 5th.The rally is being planned from Anna Statue on Anna Salai to Jayalalithaa’s memorial.
