The State Election Commission has issued a warning to all media houses not to broadcast or telecast political advertisements in electronic social media or print media without getting prior approval for the same. Satyabrata Sahoo the Chief Electoral Officer had said that it had been brought to the notice of the Commission that some political parties were broadcasting and telecasting their political advertisements in the electronic and social media without getting approval from the State Level Media Certification and the Monitoring Committee.

As per the order of the Supreme Court in 2004, if the Election Commission is satisfied that there has been a violation of the Cable Television Network (Regulations) Act, 1995, it would issue an order to the violator to stop such violation and also direct seizure of equipment. The same would apply to the print media as well.
