Carlos Acutis, a 15 year old Italian boy who died of leukaemia in 2006, is all set to be beatified in October this year. He was a computer whiz kid who is set to become the first patron saint of the internet. He spread Roman Catholic teachings online and is the perfect candidate for the protection of web surfers according to Cardinal Angelo Becciu, the head of the Vatican’s Saint making department.

Carlos used to donate his pocket money to the poor residents of Milan. He used his prodigious coding talent to set up websites for priests. At the age of 10, he created an online exhibit about religious miracles which has become extremely popular. Pope Francis paid tribute to the teenager saying that his use of the internet to communicate values and beauty is the perfect antidote to the dangers of social media.
