Partial lunar eclipse

Most parts of the world including India will be able to witness a rare type of lunar eclipse which began on Tuesday evening. The Chandra Grahan is not just an astronomical, celestial event. It has a lot of religious significance as well as the partial eclipse coincides with Pournami or full moon day.

This is happening after 149 years and is very significant for Hindus and Buddhists. Though the eclipse is not a total eclipse, astrologers and traditional pundits have given a set of dos’ and donts’ for people. Pregnant women have been advised not to view the eclipse. Usually all temples are kept closed during the eclipse period and no darshans are allowed during that time, this time it occurs at a time when all temples will be closed. It can be viewed with the naked eye and one need not have any fear of radiation effects according to scientists.
