The Delhi Government has announced a pilot project wherein state run buses would be installed with Panic Alarm Systems. This move is to ensure women’s safety. The project is being implemented in collaboration with a Bangalore based NGO. The drivers and conductors have been trained in operating and responding to the panic alarm system.

Each bus will be equipped with four panic buttons that cover the entire length of the vehicle. When the button is pressed a loud beeping alarm will be activated for 40 seconds. On hearing the alarm, the driver would stop the bus and the conductor would identity the location and take necessary action. If the issue can’t be solved, the conductor would call the depo t manager who will arrange for a PCR van.
