12 community projects in the Olympic host city

In 2016, Rio de Janeiro will be hosting the world with its renowned colour and excitement. At the heart of it all will be the people who give the city life. That’s why OMEGA is dedicated to giving them something back.

With just 12 months until the Olympic Games begin, OMEGA is marking the official countdown with their support of 12 “Social Action” projects within the host city. In partnership with the charity Viva Rio, the monthly projects will directly improve community spaces and education centers around Rio de Janeiro, and aim to help thousands of young people and their families.

By focusing on this demographic, the overall result will be one of long-term impact. From the earliest stages of a child’s life, it will plant the seeds for a better future and create a legacy that will continue long after the Games have finished.

Social Action #1  :   Support for vulnerable mothers

OMEGAVIVARIO

The neighborhood of Costa Barros has one with the highest violence indicators in the region, and one of the lowest HDIs in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Therefore, this Social Action is highly important for the women living in these situations of extreme vulnerability.

How OMEGA will help
This project will equip a primary health care center with the tools they need for child stimulation and support for vulnerable mothers. Based in the Costa Barros area and supporting the community Chico Mendes (Chapadão), it will improve access to care, with direct effects on their children and families.
