Novel on Rajani Thiranagama gets ready

Tamil human rights activist Rajani Thiranagama was murdered in Jaffna by an assassin deputed by the LTTE or the Liberation Tigers if Tamil Eelam 29 years ago. Harper Collins is coming out with an English version of her struggle on the 25th of July.

The novel is a powerful account of the life of the then head of the Department of Anatomy at the University of Jaffna.She broke all barriers when she married a social activist with Sinhala Buddhist background.She received a scholarship from the Liverpool Medical School for post graduate studies in Anatomy.She returned to war torn Jaffna to rebuild the University and to work there for her own people.Her boldness and sincerity led to her murder.
