Driven by an urge to make a contribution to those in our community who suffer silently, during his school holidays, Bharath Nagarajan along with his close friends volunteered to serve as helpers at a hospital. They were fortunate to have got full support and encouragement from their parents, family and from the the hospital management themselves. Cancer can affect anyone, and that’s the unfortunate reality. Their important learning from the experience was a compelling reason for them to continue their pursuit of finding a more effective way of providing relief to primarily those patients who can’t afford a more comprehensive treatment. Staying mindful of the fact that they are a small group of young individuals (presently 7), they have tied up with an already existing young NGO, HUMANIST, (a not for profit organization), conceptualised for the care of cancer patients. The organisation aims to bridge the funding gap for those cancer patients who cannot fully afford the treatment. It is promoted by young professional doctors. Apart from the treatment, these youngsters are also supporting the promotion of ‘awareness of Cancer Care’ campaigns along with HUMANIST to communicate that care is available. In this direction they are organising a fundraiser to raise as much as they can to create an impact and help those in need. Supporting their cause is talented jazz musician Anand Ramakrishna and his ensemble, who will be playing for them and their noble cause. The team includes Shiv Gupta, Bharath Nagarajan, Ishvari Prasanna, Anya Chinniah, Anaya Engineer, Samiha Mehra and Ahana Advani.
When and Where: The event is scheduled for the 3rd of August at Alliance Française Bangalore, with a seating capacity for 250 people. Donor passes priced at Rs. 1000 per ticket.
