Ending speculations on his political entry, Malayalam star Mohanlal made it clear that he will not contest elections on any party’s ticket. Earlier, the buzz was that the actor will contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Thiruvananthapuram constituency as a BJP candidate.
However, in an interview given to a leading Malayalam newspaper, the actor rubbished the rumours as baseless.
“I am not contesting in elections, as I am preoccupied with lot of work. I can’t skip responsibilities. Primarily, I am an artist, not a politician. I want to devote 99 per cent of my time for artistic activities,” said Lal.
Speculations about Lal’s political entry had received a major fillip after the actor’s recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Reportedly, the Kerala BJP unit also gave their consent to field the actor in the state capital.
