Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sworn in along with 57 Ministers  at a glittering event held at Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday. BJP  President  Amit Shah finally decided to join the Union Government. Former Foreign Secretary  S  Jaishankar also made a surprise entry  into the cabinet among the top 10 ministers .Those who did not make it to the Cabinet were Maneka Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley who opted out citing health reasons.

The Council of Ministers saw  representation from 22 States and attempted to balance caste and regional equation. Tamilnadu didn’t find a place in the Ministry and there has been a zero representation for  the State,  a first in over 60 years  The only consolation is that both Nirmala Sitharaman and SJaishankar who had been sworn are  from the state of Tamil Nadu.
