Miss England raises funds for Kolkata kids

Bhasha Mukherjee, an Indian origin Miss England, 2019, and a doctor by profession has helped with raising funds for a UK charity working with slum children of Kolkata. This was done as part of her ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ mission.
Mukherjee who  spent her childhood in Kolkata raised over 20,000/ pounds for charity through ticket and auction sales and she received several pledges to sponsor children in India. She is proud to be a part of the Hope Foundation which helps children all over the world. It was founded in 1999 by an Irish humanitarian Maureen Forrest to provide safety to 14 young girls in Kolkata who were surviving on the streets. It has grown from one protection home to 12 homes. It’s programmes have helped the lives of millions of children who live in the streets and slums of Kolkata.
