Loneliness affects millions of people and to tackle it, British Prime Minister Theresa May has appointed a Minister. Tracey Crouch has been appointed and given the responsibility to combat loneliness.

The British Red Cross came out with statistics that out of the population of 65.6 million,  9 million people suffer from loneliness. Tracey has to confront the challenge and address the loneliness endured by the elderly, those facing the loss of a  loved one, people who have no one to talk to and share their thoughts and experiences with etc.The appointment comes after a recommendation from a committee in memory of Jo Cox who was murdered by an extremist. This initiative will see a strategy published later this year.
