The Kerala Police are looking at the possibility of airlifting women devotees to Sabarimala using military helicopters. A total number of 560 women below age 50 have expressed their interest in visiting the temple when it opens on November 17.
The police said that the use of helicopters would require permission from the Forest Department. They would also have to clear a safe path for the women from the landing spot to the temple and back. Most of the women who have registered to visit Sabarimala are educated professionals.
