Union Minister Maneka Gandhi stirred a hornet’s nest during her election rally. A video clip of her rally in the Sultanpur constituency has gone viral. She is said to have warned the Muslims that if they don’t vote for her, she would not help them in future. The three minute video clip shows that election is all about ‘give and take’. She had said that she was winning the elections but if it was without the help of the Muslims, she wouldn’t feel good.

She has been served a notice by the District Election Officer and has been given three days time to respond. Maneka is a six time BJP MP from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Her speech came days after the Election Commission issued notice to the Bahujan Samajwadi President Mayawati following a complaint from the BJP that she had sought Muslim votes during the Magagathbandhan’s rally in Deoband. Maneka’s veiled threat has evoked a lot of condemnation on social media.
