RITZ Magazine caught up with Malaika Arora over a candid conversation at the launch in Bengaluru…

1. What are three must-haves in your wardrobe?
A white shirt, denims and my gym wear. Also something black and a saree.

2. Do you shop at Myntra?
Who doesn’t shop at Myntra. It’s my first time at Myntra office and it’s a very cool office. I love the gaming room and the whole experience of shopping at Myntra is fantastic as there’s something for everyone.

3. What’s your style mantra? Also what do you have to say about the airport look?
I prefer this real catwalk to the airport catwalk. Everyone has their own style fundas so one should be individualistic and dress according to your personality.

4. Do you follow current trends?
I’m always following trends, but my style is always mood related.

5. Some style tips that you always follow.
Keep it simple. Before you step out of the house, make sure you take a good look at yourself in the mirror. When in doubt wear a red lipstick.

6. How do you think fashion is evolving?
Everything is available at the click of a button and it’s very easy to get access to the latest fashion. Online shopping is increasing in smaller towns in big numbers. The emerging youth want to fit in too and want to be like everybody in the big cities.

7. What aspects of Niza is close to you?
The silhouttes, the feminine style, the colours and the comfort resonates with my style.

8. Any advice to youngsters who idolize you?
Follow your dreams. I come from a patriarchal family where we were always encouraged to do what we wanted to do. I’m a thinking and independent woman in every sense of the word.

9. How important are accessories to you when you’re dressing up?
I don’t like accessories and I don’t like being an “accessory”. Pun intended! When my stylist tells me to wear something that helps pop up a garment I give in and wear it, but left to myself I would avoid accessories.

10. Things that you like to do everyday?
Do yoga, be positive and depend on my good south-Indian genes (her mother is a Malayali Catholic and her father is a Punjabi) that keep me fit.
