Madras Week to be celebrated from 19th to 26th

The Madras Week celebrations will be held from the 19th to the 26th of August at different venues. Heritage walks, panel discussions, lectures, exhibitions and talks will be part of the agenda. Historian S.Muthiah said that right from its conception, Madras Week had attracted several organisations, business houses and educational institutions to host a variety of programmes.

It began in 2004 with programmes for half a day. Now the celebrations stretch to a week and have about 105 programmes lined up. A heritage quiz was conducted for school students on the 27th of July.This year, the Chennai chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage have a number of programmes such as heritage walks in the Madras High Court and the Theosophical Society etc.
